Cellulite Removal – How To Reduce Cellulite

Cellulite is one of those unfortunate realities most women face, and although easy enough to hide during colder seasons when clothing covers it, when bathing suit and shorts season arrives, it’s time to get serious about finding how to reduce cellulite or methods that promise cellulite removal.

Cellulite is actually caused by the herniation of the layer of fat below the surface of the skin which protrudes between the fibrous connective tissue and gives the skin the pitted appearance of an orange peel. It occurs in 80-90 % of post puberty women and typically affects the hips, buttocks and upper thigh areas. For many women it is just an annoyance to live with, but for millions of others concerned with their appearance, the quest for how to remove cellulite is an ongoing battle.

Cellulite removal - How to reduce cellulite There are a number of cellulite removal products and solutions that promise to deliver an answer to how to get rid of cellulite that you can choose to use individually or combine to improve the chances of success. These are some of the methods and products you may want to try before resorting to more serious surgical remedies such as liposuction.

  • Dieting is something that can be used in conjunction with any other method. Cut out fatty foods and reduce salt intake which causes your body to retain fluids. Drinking plenty of water and fluids helps to keep your body and skin hydrated which will improve the appearance.
  • Exercise, particularly leg exercises which target the upper thigh, like walking, running, lunges and squats, etc. which will help reduce fat in this area and improve the muscle tone contributing to a smoother overall appearance. However, an overall exercise program to reduce all fat in the body is highly beneficial as well in maintaining a proper body weight and mass.
  • Cellulite massage can be done once or twice a week by a massage therapist, or you can purchase your own equipment which is not terribly expensive. The massage helps break down the fatty tissue and improves circulation in the area, improving overall skin tone.
  • Rubbing aloe vera cream into the problem areas has been used to treat cellulite. There are also a number of cellulite creams and lotions on the market which contain an ingredient called aminophylline.
  • Other methods used for cellulite removal are Mesotherapy—injecting a fat-dissolving substance into the trouble spots; Endermologie—a massaging technique; Velashape—uses a combination of Endermologie and optical heat energy.

It is important to remember that there has never been one proven method or product to remove cellulite, and studies done by universites such as Harvard on many of the methods that promise to be an answer to how to reduce cellulite have stated there is no known cure for cellulite to date. The abhorrence over cellulite removal has been media driven and the quest for the so called perfect body feeds the product market to create products which make unsubstantiated claims.

The best way to increase your chance to reduce cellulite is diet and exercise, maintaining a proper weight and avoiding fatty foods, highly processed foods and substances which cause your body to retain fluids. And remember that only a little more than a hundred years ago, cellulite was highly overlooked in the overall beauty of a woman and was actually flaunted in paintings and portraits we see hanging today in art galleries.

Interesting post. Thank you for describing cellulite removal options. It was helpful when you mentioned exercises that target your upper thigh including lunges and squats.

I think the best cellulite removal process contains a cellulite removal treatment like Velashape or Venus freeze or other treatments fallowed by exercises….as long as a person does exercises the cellulite has small chances to appear.
